John “Sticks” Carpenter started tattooing in 2006. He has worked in shops in New Jersey, as well as Westchester, New York and the Hell's Kitchen section of New York City. As a personal preference, John enjoys tattooing in color with soft blends and smooth transitions. He loves pieces that involve heavy contrast and likes tattooing flowers with complementary backgrounds. He also appreciates West Coast style black and grey tattooing. John's artistic inclinations are rooted in graffiti. Developing his skills as a graffiti artist in the five boroughs of New York, John was able to harness his abilities and flourish. Aside from tagging and tattooing, John also has a taste for the finer arts, and likes to work with a gamut of mediums. He paints with anything from acrylics and spray paint on canvas to spray paint on concrete and brick. However, at the end of the day, John's focus in art in the flesh. "It's all about getting in the skin", he says. He has obtained all the proper certifications; CPR, First Aid, BBP, Anatomy, Skin Disease as well as his permit from the Rockland County Board of Health.
